THE VALLEY OF DECISION

JOEL 3:14

Many are in the valley of decision this morning.

Not really doing anything for God but nothing against Him either.

  Not hot not cold.

But is this life pleasing to God?

Is it accomplishing the purpose for which we were created?

If we are stuck between the cares of this world and serving the living God in a way

that will please Him, we must make a conscience decision to serve the living God?

1 King 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the

               people, and said, How long

               halt ye between two opinions?

if the LORD be God, follow

him: but if Baal, then follow

               him. And the people answered

               him not a word.

Matt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for

either he will hate the one, and

love the other; or else he will

hold to the one, and despise the

other. Ye cannot serve God and

            mammon.

Are there things in my life that are questionable?

 Is my music questionable?

Are my thoughts pleasing to God?

Are my actions pleasing to God?

Do I have trouble getting along with others?

Am I really selfish?

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to

do good, and doeth it not, to

             him it is sin.

If we want to please God with our life, we must make that conscious decision to serve God.

I think the fact is we want to serve God.

We want to please God with our lives.

But Satan has handed us a lie and we have believed it.

And that is I'm a good person and if I don't go to church or serve God it is okay.

It is not okay. It does make God angry.

And if we think God is going to bless our life when we are not in His will we are

  mistaken.

Luke 6:46 46 And why call ye me, Lord,

Lord, and do not the things which

            I say?

47 Whosoever cometh to me, and

            heareth my sayings, and doeth

them, I will shew you to whom he

            is like:

48 He is like a man which built

an house, and digged deep, and

laid the foundation on a rock:

and when the flood arose, the

            stream beat vehemently upon that

house, and could not shake it:

for it was founded upon a rock.

Luke 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth

not, is like a man that without a

            foundation built an house upon

            the earth; against which the

            stream did beat vehemently, and

immediately it fell; and the ruin

            of that house was great.

We must make that decision to please God

  with our lives.

How do I go about getting out of the rut

  that I'm in?

How can I find the strength to make the commitments necessary to please God with my

  life?

Things seem to always interfere with my well intended plans.

  I. PLACE YOUR CARES UPON GOD.

Psalms 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up

early, to sit up late, to eat

the bread of sorrows: for so

               he giveth his beloved sleep.

Matt 6:25 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take

no thought for your life, what ye

shall eat, or what ye shall

drink; nor yet for your body,

what ye shall put on. Is not the

life more than meat, and the body

            than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air:

for they sow not, neither do they

reap, nor gather into barns; yet

            your heavenly Father feedeth

them. Are ye not much better than

            they?

27 Which of you by taking thought

can add one cubit unto his

            stature?

28 And why take ye thought for

            raiment? Consider the lilies of

the field, how they grow; they

toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That

even Solomon in all his glory was

not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe

the grass of the field, which to

day is, and to morrow is cast

into the oven, shall he not much

more clothe you, O ye of little

            faith?

            31 Therefore take no thought,

saying, What shall we eat? or,

            What shall we drink? or,

            Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do

            the Gentiles seek:) for your

            heavenly Father knoweth that ye

have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom

            of God, and his righteousness;

and all these things shall be

            added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for

the morrow: for the morrow shall

take thought for the things of

            itself. Sufficient unto the day

            is the evil thereof.

  Psalms 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD;

trust also in him; and he shall

              bring it to pass.

Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD,

and he shall sustain thee: he

               shall never suffer the

               righteous to be moved.

Prov 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD,

            and thy thoughts shall be

            established.

  1 Pet 5:6  6 Humble yourselves therefore

under the mighty hand of God,

that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon

him; for he careth for you.

II. PLACE YOUR COST TO GOD'S ACCOUNT

     A. No one ever said being a christian

        would be easy.

There is a price to pay for being a

     child of the King.

luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate

not his father, and mother, and

             wife, and children, and

             brethren, and sisters, yea, and

his own life also, he cannot be

             my disciple.

luke 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his

cross, and come after me, cannot

             be my disciple.

Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to

build a tower, sitteth not down

             first, and counteth the cost,

             whether he have sufficient to

             finish it?

  B. We have been chosen to accomplish a  purpose.

Matt 20:16 So the last shall be first, and

the first last: for many be

             called, but few chosen.

1 Pet 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a

            royal priesthood, an holy nation,

a peculiar people; that ye should

shew forth the praises of him who

hath called you out of darkness

            into his marvellous light:

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I

             have chosen you, and ordained

you, that ye should go and bring

forth fruit, and that your fruit

             should remain: that whatsoever

ye shall ask of the Father in my

name, he may give it you.

Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in

him before the foundation of the

world, that we should be holy and

without blame before him in love:

2 Tim 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth

himself with the affairs of this

life; that he may please him who

hath chosen him to be a soldier.

     C. The cost encountered to accomplish

that purpose will be repaid many fold.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the

              sufferings of this present time

are not worthy to be compared

with the glory which shall be

              revealed in us.

Ps 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put

thou my tears into thy bottle: are

          they not in thy book?

God records every deed whether goods or

bad and no good deed goes without its

     reward.

Luke 6:22 22 Blessed are ye, when men shall

hate you, and when they shall

            separate you from their company,

and shall reproach you, and cast

out your name as evil, for the

            Son of man's sake.

23 Rejoice ye in that day, and

leap for joy: for, behold, your

reward is great in heaven: for in

the like manner did their fathers

            unto the prophets.

1 Cor 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that

watereth are one: and every man

            shall receive his own reward

            according to his own labour.

Psalms 58:11 So that a man shall say,

Verily there is a reward for

the righteous: verily he is a

God that judgeth in the earth.

III. PLACE YOUR CONFIDENCE IN GOD'S ABILITY

A.God is able to accomplish that for which He created you to do.

Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that,

what he had promised, he was

              able also to perform.

2 Cor 9:8 And God is able to make all grace

            abound toward you; that ye,

            always having all sufficiency in

all things, may abound to every

            good work:

Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do

           exceeding abundantly above all

that we ask or think, according to

the power that worketh in us,

2 Tim 1:12 For the which cause I also

             suffer these things:

             nevertheless I am not ashamed:

for I know whom I have believed,

and am persuaded that he is able

to keep that which I have

             committed unto him against that

             day.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep

you from falling, and to present

            you faultless before the presence

of his glory with exceeding joy,

Romans 1:16 16 For I am not ashamed of the

gospel of Christ: for it is the

power of God unto salvation to

              every one that believeth; to
