THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not

                         what shall be on the

                         morrow. For what is

                         your life? It is

                         even a vapour, that

                         appeareth for a

                         little time, and

                         then vanisheth away.

  Life is precious.

MAtt 16:26 For what is a man profited, if

he shall gain the whole world,

and lose his own soul? or what

shall a man give in exchange for

             his soul?

Life is more than satisying the everyday

  physical needs.

Life is both an inner and outer

manifestation of what a person is.

  What one thinks.

  How one reacts.

The outward appearance gives a picture of

the inward thoughts and aspirations of a person.

When a person receives Christ as savior, he starts a new life.

  A Christian life.

  What is a Christian?

People do not always agree as to the

  definition of the word Christian.

What does the Bible say about the Christian

  life?

  The Christian life is:

  I. A CHRIST GIVEN LIFE

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was

           the light of men.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to

steal, and to kill, and to

destroy: I am come that they

might have life, and that they

             might have it more abundantly.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the

             resurrection, and the life: he

that believeth in me, though he

were dead, yet shall he live:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the

way, the truth, and the life: no

man cometh unto the Father, but

            by me.

Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto

death, even so might grace reign

           through righteousness unto eternal

life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Tim 1:10 But is now made manifest by the

             appearing of our Saviour Jesus

             Christ, who hath abolished

death, and hath brought life and

             immortality to light through the

             gospel:

  1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life;

and he that hath not the Son of

              God hath not life.

 II. THE SPIRITUAL LIFE

     A. By the Word

Deut 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered

thee to hunger, and fed thee with

           manna, which thou knewest not,

neither did thy fathers know; that

he might make thee know that man

doth not live by bread only, but

by every word that proceedeth out

of the mouth of the LORD doth man

           live.

ROm 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing,

and hearing by the word of God.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of

               corruptible seed, but of

               incorruptible, by the word of

God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

     B. Through Faith

Eph 2:8‑9  8 For by grace are ye saved

through faith; and that not of

yourselves: it is the gift of

            God:

9 Not of works, lest any man

            should boast.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you,

He that heareth my word, and

believeth on him that sent me,

            hath everlasting life, and shall

            not come into condemnation; but

is passed from death unto life.

     C. Through regeneration

Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you,

and a new spirit will I put within

you: and I will take away the

stony heart out of your flesh, and

I will give you an heart of flesh.

John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood,

nor of the will of the flesh, nor

of the will of man, but of God.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in

Christ, he is a new creature:

             old things are passed away;

             behold, all things are become

             new.

Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which

we have done, but according to his

mercy he saved us, by the washing

          of regeneration, and renewing of

          the Holy Ghost;

  III. A TESTED LIFE

     A.Inward Testing

Ps 17:3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou

hast visited me in the night; thou

hast tried me, and shalt find

nothing; I am purposed that my

          mouth shall not transgress.

     B.Refining

Zec 13:9 And I will bring the third part

through the fire, and will refine

them as silver is refined, and

will try them as gold is tried:

they shall call on my name, and I

will hear them: I will say, It is

my people: and they shall say, The

           LORD is my God.

Mal 3:3 And he shall sit as a refiner and

purifier of silver: and he shall

purify the sons of Levi, and purge

them as gold and silver, that they

may offer unto the LORD an offering

          in righteousness.

     C.Storms

Luke 6:48 He is like a man which built an

house, and digged deep, and laid

the foundation on a rock: and

when the flood arose, the stream

            beat vehemently upon that house,

and could not shake it: for it

            was founded upon a rock.

     D. The final Test

1 Cor 3:13 Every man's work shall be made

             manifest: for the day shall

declare it, because it shall be

revealed by fire; and the fire

shall try every man's work of

             what sort it is.

  IV. A PROSPEROUS LIFE

Ps 1:3 And he shall be like a tree

planted by the rivers of water,

that bringeth forth his fruit in

his season; his leaf also shall

            not wither; and whatsoever he

            doeth shall prosper.

Ps 92:14 They shall still bring forth fruit

in old age; they shall be fat and

           flourishing;

Jer 17:8 For he shall be as a tree planted

by the waters, and that spreadeth

out her roots by the river, and

shall not see when heat cometh,

but her leaf shall be green; and

shall not be careful in the year

           of drought, neither shall cease

           from yielding fruit.
