RIVERS OF LIVING WATER

Isa 41:18

18    I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

John 7:38

38    He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Rev 22:1

1      And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Isa 55:1

1      Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Amos 8:11

11    Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

John 4:14

14    But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7:37

37    In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Thirst takes away pleasure, peace of mind and contentment.

God wants to take away the thirst, the hindrances to pleasure, peace of mind and contentment.

In giving rivers of living water God promises to supply our every need for life.

It is never God’s will to discourage you from being successful in life.

You are created for success.

Jer 1:5

5      Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Ps 139:13-16

13    For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother=s womb.

14    I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15    My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16    Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Eph 2:10

10    For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Rom 8:31

31    What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Rom 8:35

35    Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rom 8:37‑39

37    Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38    For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39    Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God has rivers of water to supply the necessary demands of this life and your ministry.

Eph 3:20

20    Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

D. L. Moody wrote: “If our water supply runs short, I do not conclude that the river or lake has run dry, but that our pipes are out of order”.

We want revival to take place here in our community!

I am praying for it every day. ARE YOU!

Let us seek God’s power in our lives to the extent that we will by the grace of God see what God and do and wants to do through us.

God wants revival to take place, why isn’t it happening?

Because God is limited to what He can do.

Yes, limited. God has ordained certain ways of reaching the lost and bringing revival.

That is through His people.

God has committed the job of evangelism to the church.

Matt 28:19-20

19    Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20    Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

God provides the resources but they are only available to those who are willing to use them.

I want to name three hindrances to God’s blessing and power, and revival this morning.

I. OUR SIN

God will not bring revival to our town if we regard iniquity in our heart.

He didn’t do it for Israel when Achan had secret sin.

He could not bless David when he sinned with Bathsheba.

He will not bless your life or ministry when you have sin either private or open.

2 Chr 24:20

20    And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.

Isa 59:1‑2

1      Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2      But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Isa 64:7

7      And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

Rom 8:7‑8

7      Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8      So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

If you want to see revival take place in our church and in our town then you=ll have to want it bad enough to confess and forsake any known sin.

HOW BADLY DO YOU WANT REVIVAL!!

II. OUR FAULTY SERVICE

Eph 4:1‑3

1      I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2      With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3      Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Col 1:10

10    That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

II Th 1:11‑12

11    Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12    That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Are we conscientious about the Lord’s work.

What priority does it get in your life.

Do you make sure it takes first place.

Matt 6:33

33    But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Shouldn’t we make sure it takes first place and not last.

Matt 6:20‑21

20    But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21    For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Will your work stand up under the judgment of God.

Eccl 12:14

14    For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Is your work acceptable to God.

2 Cor 5:9‑10

9      Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

10    For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

III. OUR SELF-WILL

John 4:34

34    Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

John 5:30

30    I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Rom 12:1‑2

1      I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2      And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

STUBBORN

II Ki 17:14

14    Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

PRIDE

Neh 9:16

16    But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,

Neh 9:29

29    And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

OUT OF AN EVIL HEART

Jer 7:24

24    But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

NOT HIDDEN FROM GOD

Isa 48:4

4      Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

REFUSE TO LISTEN TO GOD

Prov 1:24

24    Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Jer 44:16

16    As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

Neh 9:17

17    And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.

RESISTING THE HOLY SPIRIT

Acts 7:51

51    Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

REBELLION IS SIN

1 Sam 15:23

23    For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

God has a will for you. Will you do what He wants?

Will you serve in the capacity which He has called you?

Is there sin in your camp?

Is your service acceptable to God?

Is your will yielded to God’s will?

If you cannot answer these questions this morning in the way that you and God know is right,

Then by all means come to this alter and do business with God.

Please come.

God wants to use you.

If the rivers of water are not flowing in your life, the river is not dry.

Your pipes are stopped up or out of order.
