WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE:

I. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE OUR GUILT

Gen 3:5

5      For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

II. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE THE WELLS OF LIVING WATER

Gen 21:19

19    And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

Hagar could see where to find water when God opened her eyes.

John 4:10‑14

10    Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11    The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

12    Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

13    Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14    But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7:37‑38

37    In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38    He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Rev 22:17

17    And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

B. A source of satisfaction

God will satisfy the lusts that this body craves

Isa 55:1

1      Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

III. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE THE RIGHT PATH OF LIFE

There is a right way

Ps 37:23‑25

23    The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

24    Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

25    I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

And a wrong way

Prov 14:12

12    There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

IV. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE GOD’S STRENGTH

Jonathan did not hear the order his father gave so he tasted the honey. And his eyes were opened and he knew the strength of God.

1 Sam 14:27

27    But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

1 Sam 14:29

29    Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

2 Chr 16:9

9      For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

A. God is not as match box God

B. God is not a baby doll God

C. God is not a Sunday morning God

D. God is Almighty God

Heb 4:12‑13

12    For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13    Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

I did not bring Him to church with me this morning - He was already here when I got here.

He is everywhere all the time.

F. I did not tell Him what I was going to preach this morning He told me what to preach.

G. I do not tell him all the sin that I see as I visit Saturdays He tells me where to go because He has seen the sin.

He knew it before I got there He wants to see men saved.

He is Almighty God Able to save to the uttermost.

V. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE GOD’S PROTECTION

II Ki 6:17

17    And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD

opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and

chariots of fire round about Elisha.

shield and buckler.

1      He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

VI. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE THE WORLD AS IT IS

Ezek 8:8‑12

8      Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall,

behold a door.

9      And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

10    So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts,

and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.

11    And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in

the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand;

and a thick cloud of incense went up.

12    Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of

Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD

seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

Matt 16:26

26    For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and

lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

The world hates you

John 15:19

19    If ye were of the world, the world would love his own:

but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you

out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

2      And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed

by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good,

and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

15    Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.

If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

2      Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Titus 2:12

12    Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we

should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Cares of the world destroy the influence of the truth.

Matt 13:22

22    He also that received seed among the thorns is he that

heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness

of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Keeps men from realizing the danger of hell

Matt 24:38‑39

38    For as in the days that were before the flood they were

eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the

day that Noe entered into the ark,

39    And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away;

so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

VII. WITH OUR EYES OPEN WE WILL SEE THE HARVEST FIELD

John 4:35‑38

35    Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest?

behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they

are white already to harvest.

36    And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life

eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

37    And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

38    I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men

laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

Paul’s Desire was to see men saved

Rom 9:3

3      For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my

brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Rom 10:1

1      Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is,

         that they might be saved.

Our desire should be to see men saved

winneth souls is wise.
