I HAVE APPEARED UNTO THEE FOR THIS PURPOSE

                 Acts 26:16‑18

  1. Christ appeared unto Paul for a purpose

and unto us ‑ for a purpose

  2. Why ? what is our purpose? What is your

  Purpose?

God gives 4 reasons for appearing to the

  apostle Paul.

  I. TO OPEN THEIR EYES vs 18

Isaiah 59:10 We grope for the wall like

the blind, and we grope as

if we had no eyes: we

                  stumble at noonday as in

                  the night; we are in

                  desolate places as dead

                  men. (KJV)

  A. Men are blinded by the vail of sin that

     separates them from God

2 Cor 3:14 But their minds were blinded:

                for until this day remaineth

the same vail untaken away in

                the reading of the old

                testament; which vail is done

                away in Christ. (KJV)

The veil was rent torn from end to end

when Christ died on the cross.

Matt 27:50‑51 50 Jesus, when he had

                   cried again with a loud

                   voice, yielded up the

                   ghost.

                   51 And, behold, the veil

of the temple was rent in

twain from the top to the

                   bottom; and the earth did

                   quake, and the rocks rent;

                   (KJV)

This renting of the temple veil is

symbolic of the access we now have to

the Throne of God for forgiveness of sin

by the one time sacrifice of the Lord

Jesus Christ on behalf of every person

     who will simply accept it.

  John 3:16

  B. Blinded by Satan

2 Cor 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath

blinded the minds of them which

believe not, lest the light of the

glorious gospel of Christ, who is

the image of God, should shine unto

          them. (KJV)

  C. Eph 4:18 Blinded by fleshly lust and

     greed

  D. Eyes are opened by the Holy Spirit

John 16:7‑8  7 Nevertheless I tell you the

truth; It is expedient for you

that I go away: for if I go not

              away, the Comforter will not

come unto you; but if I depart,

I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will

reprove the world of sin, and

              of righteousness, and of

              judgment: (KJV)

God uses men to allow the Holy Spirit to

  work.

Thank God for the man who came to my house.

2 Thes 1:10 When he shall come to be

glorified in his saints, and to

be admired in all them that

              believe (because our testimony

among you was believed) in that

              day. (KJV)

II. TO TURN THEM FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT

A. John 3:19‑20

                    19 And this is the

                     condemnation, that light

                     is come into the world,

                     and men loved darkness

                     rather than light,

                     because their deeds were

                     evil.

                     20 For every one that

                     doeth evil hateth the

                     light, neither cometh to

                     the light, lest his

                     deeds should be

                     reproved. (KJV)

     B. The Word is light

2 Cor 4:4‑6  4 In whom the god of this

world hath blinded the minds of

              them which believe not, lest

              the light of the glorious

gospel of Christ, who is the

image of God, should shine unto

              them.

5 For we preach not ourselves,

but Christ Jesus the Lord; and

              ourselves your servants for

              Jesus' sake.

6 For God, who commanded the

light to shine out of darkness,

hath shined in our hearts, to

give the light of the knowledge

of the glory of God in the face

              of Jesus Christ. (KJV)

     C. Now is the time

Rom 13:12 The night is far spent, the day

is at hand: let us therefore cast

off the works of darkness, and

let us put on the armour of

            light. (KJV)

III. TO TURN THEM FROM THE POWER OF SATAN  vs 18

   How powerful is Satan?

   A. he is the son of the morning

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven,

O Lucifer, son of the morning!

            ground, which didst weaken the
