FINDING GOD'S PLAN FOR OUR LIVES

(ACTS 9:6)

At the moment of his new birth Paul of Tarsus ask "Lord, what wilt thou have me do."

Was Paul's conversion just an incident that happened by chance?

Or was it according to a Divine plan and purpose?

Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go

thy way: for he is a chosen

vessel unto me, to bear my name

            before the Gentiles, and kings,

            and the children of Israel:

Does God have a plan and purpose for me?

How may I know what God's purpose for my life?

These kind of questions deserve an answer and God does not leave us without answers.

I. THE LORD HAS A DEFINITE PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR EVERY ONE OF HIS CHILDREN.

There are three strong reasons for believing this.

     A. It is reasonable to expect it.

God is a God of order and method. If we

are building a house or designing a

dress we work according to a plan. God

     does the same.

     B. It is according to experience.

     Abraham

Heb 11:8‑10  8 By faith Abraham, when he

was called to go out into a

              place which he should after

              receive for an inheritance,

obeyed; and he went out, not

              knowing whither he went.

9 By faith he sojourned in the

land of promise, as in a

              strange country, dwelling in

              tabernacles with Isaac and

Jacob, the heirs with him of

              the same promise:

10 For he looked for a city

              which hath foundations, whose

              builder and maker is God.

              (KJV)

  Moses

  Heb 11:24‑27

24 By faith Moses, when he was

come to years, refused to be

               called the son of Pharaoh's

               daughter;

               25 Choosing rather to suffer

               affliction with the people of

               God, than to enjoy the

               pleasures of sin for a season;

               26 Esteeming the reproach of

               Christ greater riches than the

treasures in Egypt: for he had

               respect unto the recompense of

               the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt,

not fearing the wrath of the

               king: for he endured, as

               seeing him who is invisible.

               (KJV)

  David

  1 Chr 17:7

              Now therefore thus shalt thou

say unto my servant David, Thus

saith the LORD of hosts, I took

             thee from the sheepcote, even

             from following the sheep, that

thou shouldest be ruler over my

             people Israel: (KJV)

  Isaiah

Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord,

saying, Whom shall I send, and who

will go for us? Then said I, Here

          am I; send me. (KJV)

  Jeremiah

  Jer 1:5‑8

5 Before I formed thee in the

belly I knew thee; and before

thou camest forth out of the womb

I sanctified thee, and I ordained

thee a prophet unto the nations.

6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD!

behold, I cannot speak: for I am

            a child.

7 But the LORD said unto me, Say

not, I am a child: for thou shalt

go to all that I shall send thee,

            and whatsoever I command thee

            thou shalt speak.

8 Be not afraid of their faces:

for I am with thee to deliver

            thee, saith the LORD. (KJV)

  Paul

Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go

thy way: for he is a chosen

vessel unto me, to bear my name

            before the Gentiles, and kings,

            and the children of Israel:

            (KJV)

     C. God's Word teaches it.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus unto good

           works, which God hath before

ordained that we should walk in

           them. (KJV)

  Ps 27:11

Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead

me in a plain path, because of

           mine enemies. (KJV)

Ps 37:23 The steps of a good man are

ordered by the LORD: and he

           delighteth in his way. (KJV)

Ps 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy

           counsel, and afterward receive me

           to glory. (KJV)

  Ps 148:8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour;

           stormy wind fulfilling his word:

           (KJV)

Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him,

and he shall direct thy paths.

          (KJV)

Pro 15:19 The way of the slothful man is as

an hedge of thorns: but the way

of the righteous is made plain.

            (KJV)

Pro 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD,

           and thy thoughts shall be

           established. (KJV)

Isa 6:8‑9  8 Also I heard the voice of the

Lord, saying, Whom shall I send,

and who will go for us? Then said

I, Here am I; send me.

9 And he said, Go, and tell this

            people, Hear ye indeed, but

            understand not; and see ye

            indeed, but perceive not. (KJV)

Isa 30:20 And though the Lord give you the

bread of adversity, and the water

of affliction, yet shall not thy

teachers be removed into a corner

any more, but thine eyes shall

            see thy teachers: (KJV)

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let

him ask of God, that giveth to

            all men liberally, and upbraideth

not; and it shall be given him.

Notice three characteristics of God's plan for our lives.

  1. It is a personal plan.

He has a plan to fulfill with your life that no one else can do.

 Psa 139:14‑16

                14 I will praise thee; for I

                am fearfully and wonderfully

                made: marvellous are thy

                works; and that my soul

                knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid

from thee, when I was made in

                secret, and curiously wrought

in the lowest parts of the

                earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my

                substance, yet being

                unperfect; and in thy book

                all my members were written,

                which in continuance were

                fashioned, when as yet there

                was none of them. (KJV)

     2. It is a perfect plan.

  Rom 12:1-2

           I beseech you therefore, brethren,

by the mercies of God, that ye

           present your bodies a living

           sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto

           God, which is your reasonable

           service. (KJV)

           2) And be not conformed to this

world: but be ye transformed by

the renewing of your mind, that ye

may prove what is that good, and

           acceptable, and perfect, will of

           God. (KJV)

     3. It is a practical plan.

It is workable and it is thoroughly

  everyday living and service.

It not only sounds good in theory, but it

  works.

II. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE, THEREFORE, IS TO DISCOVER GOD'S PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR OUR LIFE.

Some Christians never find God's will and therefore live a life full of disappointment, fear, defeat, frustration and failure.

How, Wonderful to feel that we are accomplishing something really worthwhile

and not for self-gratification, but in accordance with the will of our heavenly

  loving Father.

Every unconverted, unsaved person is living a self planned life.

Just as Saul was up to the time of his conversion.

But is also true that many Christians are also living self planned lives.

We make choices that afterward prove to be wrong.

  John 21:3

Simon Peter saith unto them, I go

a fishing. They say unto him, We

also go with thee. They went

forth, and entered into a ship

            immediately; and that night they

            caught nothing. (KJV)

There is nothing better and more comforting  than to know that we are in the center of God's Will.

III. WE ENTER GOD'S PLAN WHEN WE ACCEPT  AND ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS CHRIST AS  LORD AND SAVIOR.

Matt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a

son, and thou shalt call his

name JESUS: for he shall save

               his people from their sins.

Apart from God, Saul did not enter into

God's plan until he was saved.

This is not to say that God was not concerned with him before his salvation, but he did not enter into God's will until then.

IV. WE MUST GO ON TO DISCOVER, AND WE  CONTINUE IN GOD'S PLAN, BY A DAILY  SUBMISSION TO HIM AND TO HIS REVEALED  WILL.

He has the the whole plan for us in front

of Him, but He only reveals it a bit at a

  time.

Ps 37:23 The steps of a good man are

ordered by the LORD: and he

           delighteth in his way. (KJV)

God knows the end from the beginning.

  Isa 46:9‑10

9 Remember the former things

of old: for I am God, and there

is none else; I am God, and

              there is none like me,

10 Declaring the end from the

              beginning, and from ancient

times the things that are not

              yet done, saying, My counsel

shall stand, and I will do all

              my pleasure: (KJV)

The human condition for knowing and doing God's will is complete submission to God and a strong desire to obey Him.

Act 9:6 And he trembling and astonished

said, Lord, what wilt thou have me

to do? And the Lord said unto him,

Arise, and go into the city, and it
