A SERVANT OF JESUS CHRIST

Rom 1:1‑32

Paul was a servant of Jesus Christ. A

  minister.

Every born again believer is a minister in

the sense that he is a servant of the Lord

  Jesus.

We have a job to do and the world is in

such a condition as to make the necessity

  of our ministry most urgent.

People are being drawn into the lie that

  Satan offers.

Our loved ones are held captive by Satan.

The battle between good and evil is raging.

  Satan is taking many captive.

Our loved ones are becoming casualties.

We must all live up to our responsibilities

  as ministers of Almighty God.

In our scripture this morning let us focus

  on the ministry.

  I. THE CALL TO THE MINISTRY.

     A. Called vs 1, vs 6

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work

together for good to them that

love God, to them who are the

           called according to his purpose.

God has a plan for the span of time that

you are here on this earth and you are a

  part of that plan.

  You have been called.

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I

             have chosen you, and ordained

you, that ye should go and bring

forth fruit, and that your fruit

             should remain: that whatsoever

ye shall ask of the Father in my

name, he may give it you.

     B. Paul was separted

2 Cor 6:14‑17 14 Be ye not unequally yoked

                together with unbelievers:

                for what fellowship hath

                righteousness with

                unrighteousness? and what

                communion hath light with

                darkness?

                15 And what concord hath

                Christ with Belial? or what

                part hath he that believeth

                with an infidel?

                16 And what agreement hath

the temple of God with idols?

for ye are the temple of the

living God; as God hath said,

I will dwell in them, and

walk in them; and I will be

their God, and they shall be

                my people.

                17 Wherefore come out from

                among them, and be ye

                separate, saith the Lord, and

                touch not the unclean thing;

                and I will receive you,

One cannot effectively associate with evil

  and do the Lord's work.

     C. Paul is separated unto the Gospel

Committed to carrying out the great

  commission

Matt 28:19‑20 19 Go ye therefore, and teach

                all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the

                Holy Ghost:

                20 Teaching them to observe

                all things whatsoever I have

commanded you: and, lo, I am

with you alway, even unto the

                end of the world. Amen.

The Gospel was promised in the Old

Testament and fulfilled in the New

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee

and the woman, and between thy

seed and her seed; it shall bruise

thy head, and thou shalt bruise

           his heel.

Gen 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from

            Judah, nor a lawgiver from

            between his feet, until Shiloh

come; and unto him shall the

            gathering of the people be.

Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer

liveth, and that he shall stand

at the latter day upon the earth:

Psalms 118:22 22 The stone which the

                builders refused is become

the head stone of the corner.

                23 This is the LORD's doing;

it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the

                LORD hath made; we will

rejoice and be glad in it.

The proclamation that Jesus is the Son of God

who came to redeem sinful man. vs 4

  Accredited by the resurrection.

II. THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY vs 7‑17

          testimnoy

          4.pray always

5.prays that he might see them

            that he might enjoy their

            fellowship

     B. Willingness to be used  vs 11

Paul wanted to be with the saints

that God could use him to be a part in

     the imparting of spiritual gifts

          1. The Holy Spirit empowers one

to used the gift that God gives

             to every believer

  Rom 12:1‑21 (read)

          2. But we have the oportunity on

occassion to be used in the

          ministry of exhotation.

          or encourgement.

Something you say could effect the way a

person serves God. It could make an

astounding impression on a person either

  for good or for bad.

Let us work on encouraging others.

  helping to establish their faith.

     C. Sharing in fellowship vs 12‑13

Psalms 55:14 We took sweet counsel

               together, and walked unto the

               house of God in company.

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in

you richly in all wisdom; teaching

           and admonishing one another in

           psalms and hymns and spiritual

songs, singing with grace in your

           hearts to the Lord.

     D. Paul recognized his responsibility

to do his part in the carrying out of

        the great commission   vs 14‑17

Matt 28:19‑20 19 Go ye therefore, and teach

                all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the

                Holy Ghost:

                20 Teaching them to observe

                all things whatsoever I have

commanded you: and, lo, I am

with you alway, even unto the

                end of the world. Amen.

The churches responibility is to make

  disciples, to baptize disciples, to

  disciple (teach) disciples.

Every member has a part in carrying out

  these functions.

Helping the lost to be saved.

  Growing from faith to faith.

The just shall live by faith.

III. THE REASON FOR THE MINISTRY

     A. Reveal God's wrath against sin vs 18

Psalms 7:11 God judgeth the righteous, and

God is angry with the wicked

              every day.

Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain

words: for because of these things

cometh the wrath of God upon the

          children of disobedience.

Rev 14:10 10 The same shall drink of the

wine of the wrath of God, which

            is poured out without mixture

            into the cup of his indignation;

and he shall be tormented with

            fire and brimstone in the

presence of the holy angels, and

in the presence of the Lamb:

11 And the smoke of their torment

ascendeth up for ever and ever:

and they have no rest day nor

night, who worship the beast and

            his image, and whosoever

receiveth the mark of his name.

     B. Reason for God's wrath vs 19‑32

          1. they know the truth

          2. they suppress the truth

the guilt is there yet they suppress the

guilt in order to carry out their own

  desires.

Desires brought about by the lusts of the

  flesh.

They have no defense against Satans

  temptation.

     a. The truth is known by the visible

          1)the truth about God

               His power

               His Divinity

     b. They do not glorify God‑ they do not

honor God or give praise to Him

     vs 19‑20

     c. they do not thank God

     d. they are vain in their imagination

     e. they profess to be wise but they are

        foolish

     f. worship the creature more than the

        creator

     g. God gives them up to uncleanness

     h. God gives them up to vile affection

     i. God gives them over to: vs 28‑31

Does God bring destruction and misery into

  their life? NO!

They have created their own destruction.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked:

for whatsoever a man soweth, that

          shall he also reap.

But there will be a judgment to come.

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men

once to die, but after this the

           judgment:

This world is filled with all the

wickedness mentioned in the chapter we just

  looked at.

Can better laws make a differance?

Can electing different people to government

  make a differance?

  What can make a differance?

Only you can change you life.

You can be a good influence to those around

  you.

  You are called.

You are called to a work.

Is there not enough reason for us to reach

  our full potential?
